While browsing the 0x10c forums I noticed that there were numerous operating systems, but no text editors. Well I'm here to remedy this problem. I wrote a text editor called M.A.T.E (Mike's advanced text editor), it's currently in beta.
You can preview the program here.
What is M.A.T.E?: Show
Manual: Show
THINGS FOR THE NEXT RELEASE
 • Multiple page documents
 • Uppercase and lower case support
 • The ability to create documents (possibly)
I hope you enjoy my text editor. Feedback is appreciated :) !

Well done! Here are 3 suggestions:

1. Shift uppercasing. That would be cool.
2. Color switch
3. Words do automatically swap into the next line

I know that's hard, but it would be REALLY cool!

Looks great. But the extra command for creating symbols is unecessary.
Most current emulators just dont give the correct input. A working one enters the characters with the normal keyboard as expected.
I'll try it on my own emulator included in my D16Pascal-SDK this evening. Should work fine without using a command.

That means all the code I've added for uppercase in my project was useless.

I'll definitely add those features. The main challenge would be revising the current code but it still wouldn't be that hard.

Great work! There is definitely a need for a good text editor. I will study your code in detail - to perhaps 'steal' some ideas.

If you want to have a look, I implemented some time ago a simple integrated text editor for Admiral interpreter. The editor code is in edit.dasm16 file. Compilation and running instructions are in the readme. It doesn't have any fancy features, but it has a solid gap-buffer implementation.

Looks pretty good, but can you speed up the cursor blink rate. Too easy to get lost.
Very good, anyhow.

The cursor blink is a set part of the DCPU (the 7th bit of a character sets it to blink). You would have to change the emulator to change the blink.

I added color support, but broke the save system in the process  .
EDIT: That was probably for the best, I completely revised the save-system. It's more efficient now. I also added the load command.

M.A.T.E is now in Beta! http://www.dcpu-ide.com/?program=sus3zt1x
Change log:
-Added a load command
-Added color support
*Fixed a bug with the enter function
*Rewrote the save-system completely, (it's much more efficient now)
*Optimized left and right functions (turns out there's a major bug that makes the right function delete characters if used too much, I'll fix that!)
